hen Keanu Reeves was taping Velocity, in 1993, he spent every additional minute learning lines in his trailer. These lines weren't from the film he was wearing down – as Jack Traven, the SWAT officer who takes control of a bomb-stacked transport, Reeves didn't have a magnificent course of action to state – anyway from William Shakespeare's Villa, an inside and out thumbed copy of which he would bear on set.

His ordinary regular business was zooming through Los Angeles with an irritated Sandra Bullock and a coachload of yelling extra things. Monologuing as the horrifying Ruler of Denmark, on the other hand, was close to home time. 

"I finished the way toward playing Jack, went into the trailer, and, you know – 'How all occasions do light up against me,/And drive my dull reprisal'," he says, reeling off the opening couple of lines of Villa's last talk. Did it empower him to adjust to what was, by at that point, his most fiscally undeniable part to date? "Mumble." He stops. "I don't have the foggiest thought. There was certainly a yin and yang thing going on."

As he continues, what soon ends up being clear is that those snatched previews of Shakespeare helped Reeves look good not such a lot of Traven or Villa, but instead of himself. He was 29 years old at the time, with an occupation that was taking off. Nevertheless, Reeves didn't view himself as a movement legend – or not just an action holy person, in any occasion.
